Half Moon Cay, also known as Little San Salvador Island, is an exclusive destination in the Bahamas. The island’s name is a nod to the crescent shape of its main beach, which, along with the island’s crystal-clear waters, embodies the idyllic charm of The Bahamas. The history of the island is intertwined with the broader history of The Bahamas, a region that has been shaped by colonial influences and the rich maritime culture of the Caribbean. Originally uninhabited, Half Moon Cay was purchased by Carnival Corporation in 1996 and developed into a secluded retreat that preserves much of its natural beauty. Although the island itself does not have a long history of human settlement, it reflects the cultural heritage of The Bahamas, with its pristine beaches and vibrant marine life offering a taste of the region’s natural splendor.

Half Moon Cay, also known as Little San Salvador Island, is one of 700 islands in The Bahamas. It is located about 100 miles southeast of Nassau.
